Jan Rimkeit - Music Producer and Guitarist, also known as Holojay

About Holojay

Behind Holojay is Jan Rimkeit — a Hamburg-born guitarist, songwriter and music producer, now based on the beautiful Danish island of Ærø.

With decades of experience in the music industry, Jan combines musical craftsmanship, creative curiosity and a genuine passion for working with people. His career has taken him through a remarkable variety of musical worlds, from live performances with internationally recognised artists to successful productions reaching millions of listeners.

Originally a professional guitarist, Jan has worked across numerous bands, recording sessions and live productions, including performances alongside Karl Bartos (formerly Kraftwerk) and other established musicians from the German music scene. These experiences shaped his versatility, musical intuition and understanding of what makes a great musical collaboration.

A significant chapter of his career unfolded in Hamburg, where he became closely involved with Family Screen and its successful children's music productions. In 2013, Jan created the musical character Kalle Klang, and over the following decade he produced, arranged and wrote more than 150 children's songs. The wider Sing Kinderlieder universe grew into one of Germany's most successful digital children's music projects, reaching millions of families worldwide.

In 2023, Jan launched Holojay as a creative home for his passion for pop, synthpop and electronic dance music. Building on decades of musical experience, Holojay brings together contemporary production, melodic songwriting and an open-minded approach to musical experimentation.

Read More Read Less

Alongside his production work, Jan has remained deeply connected to his roots as a guitarist. As one half of the acoustic guitar duo Javotone, he explored a more intimate and organic musical direction, including the release of the album Backroads in 2021.

Collaboration remains at the heart of his creative work. His album Own Your Pop, created with Julia McCallion, reflects his enthusiasm for empowering, dance-oriented pop music and artistic individuality.

More recently, Jan has joined forces with Danish singer and songwriter Sofie Randrup, creating a fresh, synthpop-inspired sound that combines emotional songwriting with contemporary electronic production. Their first single, All The Miracles, marks the beginning of an exciting musical partnership, with more releases to come.

But beyond technical skills and professional achievements, what truly defines Jan is his approach to collaboration.

Known for his positive energy, empathy and creative enthusiasm, he believes that great music begins with trust, curiosity and genuine human connection. Whether working with established performers or emerging talents, Jan creates a welcoming studio environment where ideas can develop naturally and artists feel encouraged to explore their full potential.

Perhaps Jan's philosophy is best captured by a line from Madonna's Music — a sentiment he has always held close:

"Music makes the people come together."

— Madonna

And for Jan, that's exactly what music is all about.

When Music Begins With a Conversation

Some musical collaborations begin with a melody. This one began with a conversation.

Jan Rimkeit, the musician and producer behind Holojay, was looking for a vocalist for one of his tracks. A mutual friend introduced him to Danish singer and songwriter Sofie Randrup. She recorded the vocals, but their connection soon grew beyond that first musical encounter.

In autumn 2025, they met in person for the first time at Jan’s home and studio on the Danish island of Ærø. Instead of immediately making music, they spent their first hours talking. Sofie shared experiences that had shaped her life – the beautiful, the difficult and everything in between.

That openness became the foundation of their creative process. Jan listens, asks questions and helps uncover the emotions beneath the story. Only then do words, melodies and electronic soundscapes begin to take shape. Their songs grow from the space between honest conversation and musical imagination.

“We don’t just write songs. We look for what lies beneath the song.”

All The Miracles

Their first single, All The Miracles, of September 25, 2026 was released , marking the beginning of this new chapter: a meeting of Sofie’s personal storytelling and expressive voice with Jan’s melodic songwriting and contemporary electronic production. It is music shaped by real experiences, yet open enough for listeners to find their own meaning in it.

The Next Chapter

And this is only the beginning. Another single with Sofie is coming soon, continuing a collaboration where every new song starts with curiosity, trust and the courage to look beneath the surface.
